| Morrison Bridge Lighting Partner Program
So, you are one of the thousands of locals and visitors who have enjoyed the new LED lights on the Morrison Bridge! And maybe you have ideas for colors or combinations you would like to see. As the non-profit that did the fund-raising and shepherded the design and installation of these efficient and long-lasting light fixtures and donated them to the bridge owner, Multnomah County, WLB is pleased so many folks consider them a highlight of Portlands riverfront.
We are not surprised to get requests from individuals and groups to program their colors on the north and south pier faces, to celebrate events such as athletic competitions and weddings. But until now, there was no approval route for such requests. So far it has been up to Multnomah County Bridge Shop engineers to aquaint themselves with the programmable equipment and select colors as time and whim allow.
We are pleased to announce that due to enthusiasm and leadership from County Commissioner Deborah Kafoury and her chief of staff Beckie Lee, WLB has been contracted to solicit and process applications from the public and relay approved color choices to the Bridge Shop.
Modest fees are charged to cover organizational and staff time required to schedule and implement your display and to help fund future lighting and maintenance-to continue these lights as they began, without the use of tax funds.
